Whenever the load does not genuinely need steam, this is the easier answer.
What actually gates the date
- 01 Load and loop BTU/hr, plus the supply and return temperatures the building actually runs at.
- 02 Tie-in survey Where the connection is made, and whether it can happen without draining the system. Usually the longest task.
- 03 Placement Where the unit sits and how the piping reaches it.
- 04 Delivery Transport scheduled against the date the heat has to be on.
- 05 Connections Your crew ties in and fills.
- 06 Startup Commissioned and handed over.
The short version
Hot water rentals cover building heat, domestic hot water, and process loads that do not need steam. They are usually simpler to place than steam units: no steam trim, no blowdown, and often no operator requirement. That makes them the better answer whenever the load does not genuinely need steam.
The connection is the main variable. Tying a temporary unit into an existing hydronic loop means matching flow and temperature and finding somewhere to make the connection without draining the building.
What decides the selection
- Load and temperature
- BTU/hr, plus the supply and return temperatures the building loop actually runs at. A unit sized on BTU alone can still fail to hold the loop.
- Flow and pump head
- The temporary unit has to move water through the existing loop, or bring a pump that can.
- Tie-in points
- Where the connection is made, and whether it can be made without draining the system. This is usually the longest part of the job.
- Fuel and utilities
- Gas pressure and electrical service at the placement location.
- Glycol
- Whether the loop is glycol, and at what concentration. It changes the heat transfer and the flow requirement.
