A wrong part costs more than a slow one. Nearly every wrong part traces back to a missing nameplate, so this is the whole list.
- The boiler nameplate
- Manufacturer, model, serial, MAWP, and year. A photo of the plate is faster than typing it and removes the transcription errors that cause wrong shipments.
- The burner nameplate
- Manufacturer, model, firing rate, and fuel. Burner and vessel are frequently from different makers, and the part you need usually belongs to one or the other, not both.
- The existing component
- The part number off the device if it is still legible, plus a photo of the device and its wiring. Wiring matters. The same control ships in several configurations.
- Like-for-like, or a change
- A direct replacement and an upgrade are different quotes. Say which you want, and whether the unit has to stay compliant with its original listing. That governs the answer on relief valves and low water cutoffs.
- Urgency
- Whether the plant is down. It changes what we chase and what we recommend, and it is the only way to tell a stock item from something worth expediting.
We sell you the part. We don't install it.
Most equipment suppliers in this state also run a service department, which means the firm selling you a low water cutoff on Monday can be bidding against you on Thursday. We have no service trucks, no field technicians, and no maintenance agreements. There is nobody here to send.
That is a deliberate structure, not a stage we're growing out of. Your customer list is not our prospect list, and the parts counter is exactly where that promise is usually broken.
