What it is

The short version

Feed and transfer pumps and their seals, check and isolation valves, level controls and probes, receiver and deaerator components, and makeup assemblies.

Feedwater pumps handle water at or near saturation, which makes them unusually intolerant of a wrong seal, a throttled suction, or a lost NPSH margin. A pump that keeps eating seals is rarely a seal problem.

Getting it right

What makes it the right part

Duty, not just the model
Flow, discharge pressure, and water temperature. A pump replaced on model number alone can be the wrong pump if the plant changed around it.
Seal type
Feedwater temperature governs. This is where most repeat failures live.
NPSH
If a pump keeps failing, check available NPSH before replacing it again. The answer is usually there.
Control type
On/off, modulating, or VFD. Changing this is a system decision, not a parts swap.
