None of it is interesting until it is missing. The common failure is ordering against a general description instead of the vessel, and discovering the mismatch with the boiler already open.

- Order against the vessel
- Gasket dimensions and material follow the boiler make and model. "Standard handhole gasket" is not a specification.
- Material and temperature
- Gasket material has to suit the pressure and temperature it sees, not just the opening it fills.
- Buy the set
- If the unit is coming apart, order every gasket it will need. The second trip costs more than the parts.
- Refractory cure time
- Refractory work has a dry-out schedule. It belongs in the outage plan, not in the last afternoon of it.
